Spring Is the Perfect Time to Refresh Your Coffee Routine

Embrace a Little Change This Spring

Sometimes what we really need is a small change in our day—a shift in routine that brings a sense of renewal. That’s why it’s time to refresh your coffee routine!

After a particularly cold winter, spring arrives like a gentle invitation to reset. The windows open again, fresh air fills the house, and the scenery slowly transforms. Trees return to life, birds begin their morning songs, and the sky stretches out in that bright shade of blue we missed all winter. The days grow longer, and everything feels just a little lighter.

Spring naturally inspires us to refresh our routines. We do some spring cleaning, reorganize our spaces, and welcome a new rhythm to our days.

For many of us, that rhythm begins with coffee.

My morning coffee ritual is something I truly look forward to every day. My favorite way to prepare it is in a French press, and that part of my routine never changes, no matter the season.

But while my mornings remain the same, what I drink throughout the rest of the day often evolves as the weather begins to warm.

Refresh Your Coffee Routine with an Easy Iced Latte

As spring turns into warmer days, I naturally start craving something cooler in the afternoons. That’s when iced coffee and iced lattes become really appealing.

One of the easiest ways to make a truly delicious iced latte at home requires almost no extra effort.

Simply brew coffee the way you normally do—whether in a Prensa Francesa, drip machine, or pour-over. Pour the coffee into an empty ice cube tray and place it in the freezer. Once frozen, transfer the cubes into a zip-top bag and store them in your freezer. Now you have coffee cubes ready anytime.

When the afternoon calls for something refreshing, place a few coffee cubes in a glass and pour your favorite milk over them—whole milk, oat milk, almond milk, whatever you love. The beauty of making it this way is that there is no ice that waters down your drink as it melts!

For an extra touch, shake the milk and coffee cubes together in a jar before pouring them into your glass. This adds a little air and creates a light, gentle froth. If you prefer a frostier texture, you can also blend the coffee cubes and milk in a blender for a smooth, icy latte. Add a small pinch of cinnamon for a warm hint of spice—and if you want to make it truly decadent, a splash of Baileys Irish Cream liqueur transforms it into a deliciously indulgent treat. ☕✨

In less than a minute, you’ve created a refreshing, café-quality latte at home.

Experiment with Simple Ingredients

Spring is also a wonderful time to experiment with small flavor additions to your coffee.

Sometimes the simplest ingredients create the most surprising results.

A popular trick among coffee lovers is adding a small drizzle of honey to a latte. Honey adds a delicate sweetness that pairs beautifully with coffee’s natural flavors.

Another interesting trick is adding the tiniest pinch of salt. Just a few grains—not more! Salt enhances both sweetness and flavor, making the coffee taste smoother and more balanced.

Cinnamon is another favorite ingredient. You can add a small pinch of it to the ground coffee before brewing, which infuses the flavor throughout the cup. Or, you can simply sprinkle a little on top of your latte for a warm aromatic finish.

These tiny adjustments can transform your everyday cup into something new and exciting.

Try Different Coffee Brewing Methods

Another way to refresh your coffee routine is to experiment with different brewing methods.

You might be surprised how dramatically the flavor of coffee changes depending on how it is prepared.

For example, brewing the same coffee in a French press produces a very different flavor profile than brewing it in an Italian Moka pot.

A French press tends to highlight the body and oils of the coffee, creating a rich, full cup. A Moka pot, on the other hand, produces a stronger, more concentrated flavor.

Each brewing method requires different grind sizes and brewing times, and these variables greatly affect the final result.

That’s why experimenting can be so fun.

The same coffee beans can reveal entirely new flavors depending on how you prepare them. Sometimes a small change in technique takes your coffee experience to a whole new level.
