MY STORY
HOW THIS STORY BEGINS
María Amalia Robbin was born in Medellín, Colombia. Her mother was an American doctor and her father was a Colombian agricultural businessman, therefore, she grew up speaking English and Spanish equally in her home. She graduated from an American school in Medellín and then obtained her diploma in Agribusiness.
For the past 20 years she has been working as an international food broker selling all kinds of foods in different markets around the world. Writing had never crossed her mind until a few years ago when she started doing research on her paternal side of the family and realized that she needed to tell all of those stories, which were too good not to tell!! She had always loved writing and had been good at it, but had never considered it as something she would do on a daily basis. She often laughs and tells a story about an English Professor she had in college who told her she should consider becoming a writer.
She was shocked since writing was not part of her horizon at that time of her life and she thought her teacher was absolutely crazy! Life is full of surprises and now her first book is out: “Planting The Seeds” which is part of the Series 1888 La Amalia A Coffee Novel by María Amalia Robbin which will be available soon.

About María Amalia Robbin
María Amalia Robbin was born and raised in Medellín, Colombia, in a bilingual home shaped by coffee, culture, and entrepreneurship. Her mother was an American medical doctor, and her father was a Colombian agro-businessman. Because of this, she grew up speaking both English and Spanish fluently at home.
She attended an American school in Medellín and later earned a degree in Agro-Business. From an early age, she was surrounded by entrepreneurship, international culture, and the traditions of Colombian coffee.
A Career in International Food Business
For more than 20 years, María Amalia Robbin worked as an international food broker. During that time, she sold wholesale food products in markets around the world. The experience gave her a deep understanding of agriculture, food quality, and global business relationships.
At the time, writing was never part of her plans. However, everything changed when she began researching her paternal family history. The stories she uncovered were too meaningful not to share.
Discovering a Passion for Writing
Although she always enjoyed writing, she never imagined becoming an author. In fact, she often laughs when remembering an English professor from college who once encouraged her to become a writer. At the time, the idea seemed impossible to her. Years later, life took an unexpected turn.
Today, her first book, Planting The Seeds, has been published as Book 1 of the 1888 La Amalia Coffee Novel Series by María Amalia Robbin. Additional books in the series will be released soon.
